ALPHARETTA: the First Town

The flourishing city now known as Alpharetta was once a camping ground beside a spring. Originally called New Prospect Camp Ground, it became a village where native Cherokees and white settlers met to exchange goods. The name was changed to Alpharetta (Greek for “first town”) in 1858, when it became the county seat of Milton County. Later, during the Great Depression, it was merged into Fulton County, where it remains today.

In the early part of the century, Alpharetta’s economy was originally hampered by the lack of a railroad. But since the area was populated by small farms and merchants’ shops, Alpharetta’s growth became steady. Alpharetta has now gained fame as a prime location for technology-focused businesses.

Though Alpharetta is one of the fastest growing communities in the Atlanta area, its environment is considered ideal for raising families and living a quality lifestyle. Alpharetta combines suburban comforts with the excitement of similar-sized cities. For visitors and residents alike, North Point Mall, several parks, and the historical stores in Downtown Alpharetta provide plenty of recreational choices.

Buying Real Estate in Alpharetta

Alpharetta, Georgia real estate and North Fulton County homes in general represent one of the fastest growing and prestigious markets among all Atlanta Georgia suburb homes. Development in Alpharetta is more recent than in many parts of the Atlanta area, therefore, homes are newer, on average and are more frequently designed with more open floor plans, more modern appliances, wiring, plumbing, etc.
